Cozart's (b. 1802 in N.C. m. Elizabeth Ashley) parents are James Cozart b. about 1742 in N.J. died 8/7/1806 in N.C., m. Sarah Brinkley. There's a story regarding James and Sarah and the reason their first five children were all named Brinkley. They didn't get legally married until about 1797, or so, then had their last three children including William P. Cozart.
