Hello I am interested in knowing anything about the African American Cozart's. When I posted the lineage that I had on the Couser/Cousar family, I received an email surjesting that I check out Cozart. My father's sister and my sister were named Earlie. Lawanda W is married to a Cozart. When she read my message and saw the name Earlie, she email me. The name Earlie is unusual. Couser/Cousar and Cozart and similar. Maybe the lineage is the same. Maybe the spelling was changed. My family's origin, as I was told, began in Lancaster County, SC. However, I have only find my grandfather in the 1920 census. My grandfather, Willie/William P Couser was born on August 15, 1889. He married Martha Mackey. They had five children. My father was the youngest, Willie P Couser. I have search the 1900 and 1910 census of several counties, but, I have not not been able to find him listed. I was told that my grandfather had a brother, John. John moved to Chattam, North Carolina. Maybe John changed his name to Cozart. Maybe that is why my cousin, Bill Wylie Couser was not able to find him. I was also told that my grandfather had twin brothers that lived in Greensboro, North Carolina. However, when I got that information, my cousin Bill said they maybe deceased. When my grandfather died in Lancaster, South Carolina his brother John attended the funeral services. However, he left before anyone could talk to him. Also, I was told that they were mulatto. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks Margie
