My g-grandfather James T. Cozart married Emma Coffey in 1883, who was cherokee, her name was Redmond. But they are all from Lenior,NC, in Buffalo Cove area. All the Cozarts had dark skin, black curley hair, but, they were small built with small noses. There is a tribe in the Orange co. area called Occanechi-Saponi, that I pulled up on the internet that have the same features as my folks. And sence the Cozarts settled in that area, they could have mixed and traveled on to Rowan co, to Lenior, NC. But I am still working on it. I did find that my gg-grandfather William C. Cozart was born in Rowan co. in 1805 married a Mary Haynes in
1828,but I can't find out who his father was, so I am still looking for that info.
