When my ggrandfather James T. Cozart married in 1880,he had listed on his certificate a Nancy J. Maize as his mother and his father was unknown, but he was a Cozart.Then James wife died and he remarried to Emma Coffey in 1883? and the mother listed this time was spelled Mays. She may have remarried to a mays, and then later on married James Day.
It gets complicated....
