Thought I'd try to clear up some confusion resulting from an earlier post of mine about my family's Brooklyn antecedents--apologies for not answering sooner, but I haven't been able to log on for a while. My g-g grandfather, Thomas (middle initial may be "F" or "P") Coyne was b. Ireland ca 1830 and d. in Brooklyn in 1889. He and a brother, John, emigrated with their mother Catherine (surname unknown) during the 1840s. The brothers were painters. Thomas m. Ann Wilson (ca 1825-1894) in Brooklyn ca. 1850. John Francis Coyne (1856-1923)m. twice; first Ann Marie Donovan (ca 1858-1885); her parents were the fur dresser Dennis Donovan and his wife Johanna. John was a sign painter. Thomas Arthur Coyne was a motorman on the IRT. He was also married twice; first to Mabel Decker in 1899. She died in 1915, in the Bronx. I have more on these families, if anyone is interested. Hope this clarifies the "missing generations," Ed and Maryellen. Would love to hear from anyone with Brooklyn Coynes! Terry (Theresa) Coyne Strasser
