I'm afraid I can't be of much help with Coynes from Washington. Mine are from the Brooklyn area. But I couldn't ignore your "cry for help". I've been doing this for about 12 years now off and on. It does get a little frustrating if you don't feel you're getting anywhere. I wanted to suggest you also check out 'www.ancestory.com' or at least do a search on the internet to find the Social Security Death Index. SS numbers weren't really in existence much before the late 1940's, but it help me find concentrations of people in the areas I was looking for. It gave me a starting point to go and visit local libraries, historical societies, churches, etc.
