Hi, Cheryl. I have been reading, with interest, your information on the Coys. I am a Coy by marriage, but not affiliated with the Coys you are pursuing. However, I am a bit confused by your math as to the distribution of the land of Samuel Coy. You state in your first entry that courthouse records show Samuel's land was distributed nine ways and that this usually indicates there were nine heirs, usually sons and daughters. You then go on to show what that distribution was, 5 heirs getting 1/9th each and one heir getting 4/9ths part of which was to be used to pay his father's debts. So why do you think there were more children? You have shown the distribution that the courts have. Nothing that I've read says there were any other children. Maybe the other names you have were relatives. Just wondering. Maybe I missed something but I was curious. My Coys are all from Michigan and Ohio, but I'm always interested in checking out new possibilities. Also, I checked my Marriage Record books for Madison County, Kentucky and there was no record of a Whorton/Wharton marrying a Coy in 1834. Good luck on your search. Lou Coy
