I just discovered my Jane Tanner yesterday. A week ago, I found infant children of my gg-grandfather Henry Tanner. The "CEMSEARCH" online database at the Cobourg Library had these children in Salem Cemetery. I was puzzled that Henry and wife Sarah were buried in Cobourg and the infants by themselves in Salem. I thought to check out who they were buried next to, and in the 1988 transcription for the cemetery, there was Jane and Edward W. in the next grave. Also, there is a Levinia Carr not too far away, whose maiden name is listed as Tanner. My great-grandmother, Henry's daughter was named Lavinia, so I'm convinced Levinia was his sister. Everything clicked yesterday. I'm curious about the Tanner family, as I have a copy of an 1834 newspaper article which tells the sad tale of Henry Tanner from Colborne accidentally shooting and killing his mother, which means she is probably in that cemetery somewhere as well. She had just arrived from England with her younger children two weeks before her untimely death! Would you happen to know anything about this? .. And please tell me about Jane if you have any info!!
