Aug. 11, 1929 - Nov. 20, 2006

Jeannine Cox, 77, of Huntsville died Monday at her home after a long illness caused by a stroke she suffered in 1996.

Mrs. Cox was born in Coker in 1929 and moved to Huntsville in 1953 with her loving and caring husband, John B. Cox, who has taken her across the United States to find a cure for her illness. She graduated from the University of Alabama and was an elementary school teacher before she began her own family. She was also an avid golfer. She attended Trinity United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, S.O. and Mattie Burkhalter. She is survived by her husband, John B. Cox; son, Burt Cox and wife Faye of Lacey's Spring; daughter, Jeanne Allen and husband Bobby; grandchildren, Nyoka Martin, Ben and John Lehman, Whitney and Meghan Allen, and Amy Wellingham; great-granddaughter, Meryl Martin.

The family would like to thank Joyce Strickland for her excellent full-time care of Mrs. Cox for the last four years.

Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Trinity United Methodist Church. A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. Mrs. Cox donated her body to the UAB School of Medicine.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Hospice Family Care, 3304 Westmill Drive, Huntsville, AL 35805, who provided unbelievable care and kept Mrs. Cox comfortable for the last three years of her life.
