Huntsville Times, The (AL) - January 3, 2007 Deceased Name: W.E. Cox Jr. Nov. 28, 1930 - Dec. 30, 2006 W.E. Cox Jr., 76, passed away Saturday at his home in Westover. He was born in Hamilton on Nov. 28, 1930 to W.E. Cox Sr. and Maggie Bell Ballard Cox. He finished high school in Russellville, where he was a football letterman. W.E. served in the U.S. Air Force from 1950 to 1954, and then lived and worked in the Birmingham area for 52 years. He retired in 1998 as an estimator and buyer in steel fabrication. He is survived by his wife, Martha Pair Cox; children, Lorraine Cox Fancher and husband Chuck, Elaine Cox Abston and husband Mac, David Douglas Cox, and Jannine Cox Gore and husband Brian; brother, Jack B. Cox; and grandchildren, Shelley Fancher, Kyle Fancher, Evan Abston, Ethan Abston, Eli Abston, and Preston Gore. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Bolton-Letlow funeral home in Columbiana. Burial will be in Ray Family Cemetery. (more) Birmingham News (AL) - January 1, 2007 Deceased Name: COX, W. He finished high school in Russellville, Alabama where he was a football letterman. W. E. served in the US Air Force from l950--54, then lived and worked in the Birmingham area for 52 years. He retired in l998 as an estimator/buyer, steel fabrication. He married Martha Joan Pair in l960 and fathered four children-three daughters, one son. He now has six grandchildren. W. E. personally built the log house in Westover and has lived there for ten years. Hobbies were hunting and fishing, giving tractor rides to grandchildren, and cultivating a small garden. Survivors are: Martha Pair Cox, wife; Lorraine Cox Fancher (Chuck), Elaine Cox Abston (Mac), David Douglas Cox, Jannine Cox Gore (Brian), children; Jack B. Cox, brother; Shelley Fancher, Kyle Fancher, Evan Abston, Ethan Abston, Eli Abston, and Preston Gore, grandchildren. Visitation is Tuesday, January 2, 2007 at Bolton-Letlow Funeral Home, Columbiana, AL from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at Bolton-Letlow Funeral Home, at 2 p.m. with burial at Ray Family Cemetery (5 miles south of Westover on Hwy 55).
