Deceased Name: COX, BILLY J.
COX, BILLY J. age 72, of Birmingham, AL, passed away Feb. 17, 2005, after a long, happy life. He graduated from Jemison High School and Auburn, served as an Air Force pilot and worked for U.S. Pipe. Humble and generous, he spent his retirement years in service to others. He spent many an hour at North Shelby Baptist Church "taking care of things." He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Kaylor and Eunice Lorene Cox; and brothers, Lewis, Albert and Ellis Cox.
Survivors include his wife, Elaine Cox; daughters, Lynn (Kyle) Richardson, Donna Cox, Karen (Troy) Rochester, Kim (Jeff) Smith; brothers, Raymond (Betty) Cox, Kenneth Earl (Elvira) Cox; sister, Jeannette (Luther) McGiboney; sister-in-law, Mary Cox; grandchildren, Brett and Garett Richardson, Amy, Cory, and Blake Rochester, and Zach, Cami, Alex and Madi Smith; and a host of nieces and nephews who dearly loved their "Uncle Bill."
Visitation will be Saturday, February 19, 2005, from 6 until to 8 p.m. and funeral service will be Sunday, February 20, 2005, at 2 p.m., both at Southern Heritage Funeral Home, Highway 119, with Rev. Allan Murphy officiating. Burial will follow in Jefferson Memorial Gardens on Highway 150. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the North Shelby Baptist Church Building Fund.
