He left at 6:30 a.m., June 1, 2009, from the Hospice House in Bristol. His wife, Gladys, and son, Bucky, were at his side. He was born, July 28, 1942, in Dryden, VA, and lived in Kingsport, Sullivan Co TN, since 1963 working with Mead Corporation for 43 years. He was a member of Oak Glenn Baptist Church in Fall Branch, TN, and he was a licensed minister. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ora Mahan Cox, father, Elmo C. Cox; sister, Charlotte Skidmore; infant brother, Elmo Wayne Cox; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents. He is survived by his wife of 45 years Gladys Cox; son, Elmo, 'Bucky' Cox, III and wife Shellia Tipton Cox whom he thought of like a daughter; grandsons, Elmo Carlson Cox IV and Tanner Cox. The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 3, 2009, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., at East Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral services to follow at 7 p.m., with Pastor Ronnie Trent and Roy Lane officiating. Graveside services will be Thursday, June 4, 2009, at 11 a.m., at East Lawn Memorial Park where family and friends are asked to gather by 10:45 a.m. East Lawn Funeral Home, Kingsport TN, is honored to be serving the Cox family.
