I don't know anytthing about the parents or siblings of my great-great grandfather, Tarquin Napoleon Cox 1836-1932, descendants at http://patriot.net/~crouch/edelincox/cox.html
However, the family says that he had a neice who married a Jack Coggins, who conspired with his lover, the family's black servant girl, to murder her. The girl tied him up, and he made up a story that someone broke in, overpowered him, tied him up and killed his wife. But as my great-great grandfather and others in the community sang as they took Coggins to be hanged, "Jack Coggins, Jack Coggins, we know it ain't so, for the knots on your hands were tied in a bow."
Are there any records of what his wife's name was, who her ancestors were and how she was connected to the Cox family?
