Benjamin Ely Cowperthwaite and Jane Ross

My records show that Jane Ross married BEC on March 28, 1811. There was also a note that she bore a son on January 4, 1811. Could this be true?
Woodbridge also states, in a letter to a Tenessee Cowperthwaite that "Next, I think it is possible that Jane Ross may have been the first wife of John K. rather than Benjamin". I show BEC as b.1786, d. 1865 and John K. as b.1784, d.1848.
Can anyone offer some different data?
