Hello Julie,
James and his wife Margeret had a daughter called Norah, born in 1897 or 1896; so she is probably not your Norah. I have reason to believe that he may have had a sister called Norah - but I have only circumstantial evidence of this at the moment, she could be your Norah. James’ other children were called James, George, Carrie and Edith; let me know if you share any of those names in your family. I am having great difficulty in finding James' place of birth, the most likely places are: Croydon in Surrey or Muntham, which is a name shared by hamlets in both Surrey and Sussex.
If it helps, James’ father was also called James.
