By this time you may have your information on Charles S. and Esther T. Cowley. I am descended from them also. I believe his father was a Charles Lawson Cowley. Further than that I do not know. I would really like to know where in England they came from and when. Have you found out?
Charles S. Cowley had a son, Jerome Drue Cowley, and he was my great grandfather. His daughter, Amanda L. Cowley married my grandfather, Koger T. Maddox in Tuscaloosa Ala after the War and came to Texas soon after. Her father had bought land in Titus Co. Texas in 1850 or thereabouts and his son, Samuel, went there to run the planting operation there with several slaves. After the War my grandparents went to live there and later to the Gulf Coast of Texas in Brazoria County. I hope this helps in some way. Percival Beacroft
