Birth date for Orrin Marcellus Cowles given to me previously as 6 Apr 1853, but without a citation. Would like to verify this (other sources have Mar or April between 1853 and 1855 with 1853 being the most likely). His birthplace (verified) was Fulton,Whiteside,IL. He was the son of Austin Cowles and Irene Hix Elliot. The family moved shortly after his birth to Iowa.
