Hi Keith,
I checked the Cowles books and there is nothing on Maria's family. Here is what is written:
ASAHEL COWLES, son of Sheldon b. Mar 19,1816 in Winchester, Conn: d in 1879, aged 63 years in West Granville, Mass; m. July 5, 1851, at Tolland, Mass,. Maria O'Brien, according to the Tolland vital records, but her name appears as Maria Bryan in the Blandford, Mass., vital records, and as Maria Bryant, b. in England, in the Hartford, Conn. vital records. Res. Sandisfield and West Granville(?), Mass (see Encylopedia of Biography, Massachusetts, 1925.)
