I trace back to the "original John" Cowles also. I'm curious about your mention of his two brothers - where did you get this information? The mother of his children is Hannah (believed to be Hannah Varnum). There is also a mention of a wife named Sarah Hart. We think it's possible that this was a wife before Hannah. Since he was born in 1598 or so it's quite likely he was married before he married Hannah in 1638 in Hartford (haven't come across other children though - could the possible brothers be sons?).
Would love to share ideas and information. I trace from John and Hannah's second son John (b. about 1641).
