Starting Sept. 30, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.

In Reply to: I need some family history by Justin Cowles pronounced Coles of 832

My predecessors on my mother's side of the family were Cowles' (pronounced Coles) they came from Norfolk in the UK, which is where my great-grandmother Gertrude Cowles was born, in a town called Wymondham (pron. Windham)
Some townspeople from the area emigrated to the US in the 1700's and there is a County in New England called Windham, which is where they settled. I think some also settled in Massachusetts.
