Does anyone out there know anything about whom this town was named for? I am the grandson of Alice Whitter (nee Cowles) (September 11, 1907 - November 2, 1998), great grandson of Arthur Luman Cowles (1875 - 1961) and Sataphine (Sadie) Logelin (1879 - 1957). Arthur's father was Corydon Austin Cowles (1851 - 1930) and Arthur's grandfather was Wesley Fletcher Cowles (1829 1903).

Also, checking the possibility that when the actress Greer Garson died, her land was sold to a Cowles. (Or, perhaps, she got it from a Cowles).
