Dear Catherine,
My appreciation for your thorough explanation of the Cowing name of England. Our Cowing line began with a man who used my surname of Cowen followed by Cowing. It was later learned that he was actually a Colquhoun of Scotland and was taken prisoner at the Battle of Worcester, England the year 1651, therefore, our use of the Cowing surname did not orignate in England but I find your message to be of interest and thank you!
