Dear Albert,

There are two known Benjamin Franklin Cowgills from Ohio during the Civil War period;one was a veteran -

"Benjamin Franklin Cowgill b 2 Aug 1842, d 1910, Paonia CO, m 30 Mar 1865, in OH, Semira Johnson (shown also as Jemima and Almira), b 1842, OH, dau of Gerard M. and Mary (Coffin) Johnson, Highland Co., OH, both bur Cedar Hill Cemetery, Paonia, CO. They lived in IA in 1875, and appear on the 1880 census in Jackson Township, Montgomery Co., IA; family moved to CO in 1902-03. Benjamin F. served in the Civil War as a Cpl, Co F, 60th Ohio Infantry; applied for pension 20 Jan 1886 from CO; his widow filed 13 Jul 1910 from CO." (This is an excerpt from my mother (Beatrice Cowgill's book)

The other b 23 May 1838, son of Jonathan Barrett Cowgill, she had no other data on. If you have other information on this man, please provide.
