I have a problem....My research and family stories don't match up. In an old transcript from my great uncle, Charles Wyatt cowell, he states that the family had come from Northern ireland.(this is where I would like to finish my tree) He states there were five brothers that came to the United State to raise Irish Potatoes. One of them went to Camden, Benton County, Tennessee. One went to Bellville,Illinois. One went to Pennsylvania. The rest remained in South Carolina. But my research puts them in North Carolina. I have traced back to Joseph Cowell Sr. who was born Dec 7 1786 in North Carolina Died Oct 23, 1869 in Camden. He was married abt 1812 in NC to Sarah Sally Davenport b: Dec 7, 1786 in NC and D: Juk 17, 1861 in Camden, TN. Then I find an Edmond Cowell. He is Joseph Sr. father. No Mother is shown. Is he the son of Elizabeth and Benjamin Cowell? Then I find that Benjamin was married to a Phebe Carpenter. Does any one know? I have lots of other names and dates but are they of use to me? Of the information I have the first mention of old world in Erling, England in 1591. Its the birthdate of one Alice Weeks. Maybe uncle Charles just didn't want to admit there were Yankees in the family. If anyone can help me sort all of this out please help!!! I will be looking forward to hearing from you. Thank you all
