Hallo,
My name is David Michael Cowell and James Samuel Cowell was my great Grandfather via James Michael Cowell. I am researching all the Cowells in Essex, England at present and would be pleased to help. James Samuel`s father was a street trader in Colchester and James had a sister Mary Ann.
Upon the death of his wife, Kate, James walked with the children to Essex where my father, James Michael was placed in an orphanage in Brentwood and one sister, Nell into a convent. This would have been around 1894. After the orphanage my father joined the British Army and served in India until the outbreak of the 1st World War when they were shipped to France where he was wounded out in 1917. James Samuel had a son called John who died shortly after birth as did Kate his mother. I would appreciate any information his other children
