This James came to Anson County and received a land grant in 1749, 54 & 56. This area later became part of Marlboro County, SC. James was the son of another James Coward 1700-1742 and this last James was the son of William and Mary Speight Coward of Bertie County, NC. My information is also in Mr. Robinsons book Coward/Cowart Chronicles except Joel is mentioned as a son of William which I know now is incorrect. I have heard of the line of Benjamin and the Thomas, Isaac, and John you mentioned but have never found a connection to mine. Doris Strickland Blythe Notify Administrator about this message?
