I have earlier information on this family. My line is William, brother of the earliest Benjamin. I have resources if you need them for this info:

William Coward b ? d. 1728 Bertie Co. NC Mary ?
...John Coward b ? d. 1737 Bertie Co. Elizabeth Griffen
d/o Martin Griffen & Elizabeth Smithwick
....Benjamin Coward b. 1733 Bertie Co. (Elizabeth) Alday
(Benjamin and brother William are listed as sons-in-law to Thomas Alday who died in Bertie Co. in 1754) Benjamin's death is listed in SC Probate Records #2 as Feb. 2, 1785, in St. Paul's Parish in SC.

.....Benjamin Coward, Jr. possible wife Milly ?
.....James Coward
.....Joshua Coward
other children not identified
Benjamin, Sr. left Bertie Co., NC about 1768 and is listed in the Petitions for SC Land Journal for land in Craven Co., SC. in 1768, 1770, 1772, & 1773. Son Joshua received land in 1772 on Beaver Creek.
1772, Benjamin and wife Elizabeth sold land on Little Flat Rock Creek which was witnessed by James Coward, Joshua Coward, and Wm Offill.
1775 History of Kershaw Co.lists Joshua as "near Claremont" which is near the site of the Battle of Camden. No further info on Joshua, I assume that he died in the Rev. War.
Lancaster Co., SC, Deed Book A, Sept. 23, 1781. Benjamin Coward sold right of 100 acres on Beaver Creek in Craven Co. (Possibly Joshua's land). signed Benjamin Coward
Milly X Coward
Will, I hope this helps. It seemed to be difficult to pick useful info for you without throwing in all the deeds, etc. that I have. If you need further info, let me know and I can be more specific.
