Rett,

I do not know of any letters or photos surviving. If you find any, I'd be interested, as Rix Coward was the brother of my 2g-gm.

I have a bit of trivia; don't know if any of it is useful to you:

- Rix is mentioned in Happy Heritage as breaking a leg near Knoxville in 1862.

- Col. Asbury Coward was first cousin to both these men.

- If I remember correctly, I have a copy of the inventory of Rix's estate, which was administered by his uncle and my 3g-gf Samuel C. James.

- According to his sister's family Bible, Rix was the 6th of 7 children, and was born 1838. His brothers William James (b. 1833) and Duncan (b. 1836) also died in the Civil War. A sister and their father also died during that time period.

Hope this is some help.

Donna
