Alan,

Fielding Coward (1802-1852) married Patience Moran in 1824 in Chatham County, NC. I do not know exactly when they moved to Randolph County. Ruth Coward Allred (1846-1903), their daughter, married James Madison Allred (1842-1915) in 1865. One of their sons, John Monroe Allred (1873-1939) was my great grandfather. Fielding's parents were (I think) Richard (1754-1810) and Elizabeth (1765-1820). Patience's parents were William Moran and Delilah Mann Moran. Someone sent me a whole bunch of information on the Moran family, but I have not had a chance to sort through it and see where these two fit in.

Patience (here tombstone reads "Pashens wife of Feeden Coward") is buried in the Salem Protestant Methodist "Old Burying Ground" in Ramseur, NC. On one side of her grave is a marker for C.S. Coward (6-10-1848 - 7-18-1867), whose relationship to Patience I do not know. On the other side is a tombstone base, which is probably the remant of the marker for Fielding.

Hope this is helpful.

Ricky Allred
