Looking for an Abbeville Co., S.C., probate record in the 1786 estate of Andrew Cowan. The record reportedly mentions William Ross who has a son-in-law named William Garrett. Does anyone have a copy or transcript of this reference?
Which William Garrett? Capt. William Garrett of Laurens Co., S.C., married Nancy Bramlett, according to Ann West Owsley and Edward Garrett II's Daybook. The 1844-1848 estates of William Garrett and wife, Nancy, are recorded in Laurens County.
Several sources list William's wife as Nancy ROSS, born Aug. 21, 1776, in Laurens District, the daughter of Martha and William Ross. Some Garrett descendants list the date of William’s marriage to Nancy Ross as Oct. 12, 1784. Does anyone have a record or written reference of this marriage?
One source indicates Rev. Joshua Palmer married Nancy Bramlett and William Garrett on June 5, 1788, in Laurens County. Does anyone have a record or written reference of this marriage?
Who is Andrew Cowan and how is he related to the Cowans who married into the William Garrett family?
Thanks in advance for helping me clear up a nagging question. I think William Garrett may have first married a Ross and then married Nancy Garrett. Does anyone have any other theories regarding this mystery?
