I have found out some more information since the last post. My grandmother's father was James Ellis Covington who was a 1st Sargent in the 23rd Regiment for the CSA. His father was Andrew Jackson (A.J.) Covington, who was from Rutherford, NC but later moved to Georgia, first to Franklin County and later on to Cherokee County, around the Waleska area. He served in the Cherokee Legion as Captain. If anyone has other information, please respond. Notify Administrator about this message?
