I am currently researching the Covington branch of our Settle/Suttle family tree and found that Presley Suttle was the bondsman for the marriage of Sarah and William in 1827 in Sumner Co TN. The only Covington in our family tree is Mary Covington md to Presley's son John Suttle/Settle. I understand that a bondsman was a family member or someone who was close to one of the couple and so was wandering if William might be the brother of Mary.
The information I have on Mary is she was born abt 1803 and remarried Sterling Clack in 1856, as John died in 1854. The census of 1860 she was not listed with Sterling however her younger children were living with Sterling, so assume she might have died between 1854 and 1860.
Any information who be appreicate.
