Joseph was the third older brother of my g4gm, Hannah Covey Carley. In an application for widow's benefits for a veteran of the Rev War, Albert A. Carley with whom he had served in the Dutchess Co. Volunteer Militia, dated 1836, he states that he is 87 yrs old and a resident of Cortland Co., NY (Willets).
