Couturier General Family History

I'd like any information that can shed light on the general history of the Couturier family.
My great great grandmother was Olive or Mary Olive Couturier this according to her obituary, and was born 6 Nov 1838 in Old Town, Maine, married to Theodore Govin 17 September 1855. Yet in the town records for marriage she is listed as Olive Taylor...was this a common Americanization of couturier=dressmaker?
In the microfiche (haven't yet ordered the original microfilm) Theodore is listed as Theodore Grover although his descendants definitely came down as Govin.
Also her son John Stephen Govin of Wisconsin listed his mother as being Canadian on a Census form.
