I realize that this is about 5 years late, but just saw your note. I have the Coutts line in my family tree...my John Coutts starts with him, b. 18 Apr., 1731 in Kirkmichael, Banffshire, Scotland, d. 28 Dec., 1762. He married a Margaret Bain (Steuart?) Stuart, b. 1741. They married 28 Dec., 1762.
There are other John descendants, but none with your exact dates, and no Margaret with that last name. Does any of this help?
