That is the death date a lot of people have for Jacques but I think it is wrong. According to the book "Genealogy of the French Families of the Detroit River Region 1701-1936", Jacques' son Louis-Basile was buried on this date. It is possible that both father and son could have died that close together but...
In Louis-Basile Cousineau's marriage record, recorded at Ste-Anne-de-Detroit and found in the book "Marriage Records Ste. Anne Church Detroit 1701-1850" page 28, his father Jacques is listed as deceased at the time of his marriage which was 10 January 1780.
COUSINOT, Louis Basil, son of dec Jacque and dec Joseph Letans married 10 Jan 1780 DAVIGNON, Marie Francoise, daughter of dec Alexis and Marie Louise Creste.
Groom's father, a laboureur, had lived on his land at l'Ile Jesus. Groom was a master wheelwright of this parish for several years. Bride's father had lived on his land in the parish of Chambly, government of Montreal, diocese of Quebek [sic].
