I think my ancestor was Jno Joseph William Maserat Courtoy, born 1777 and christened at St Mary Le Bone, London. FATHER John Courtoy and mother Marianne OR Mary Ann, possibly Maserat.
This Jno J.W.M. Courtoy had a sister Louisa and a brother John and I think John was a trader in GOA. It is unproven but possible that John had a mistress/defacto called Hannah Peters, who not only had 3 daughters to him, but who was suspected of being a Royal Mistress.
Her children Susannah, Mary and Elizabeth, born early 1800s - 2 are buried with her in a mauseleum/crypt at Brompton Cemetery - this crypt is suspected of being an early attempt at a Time Machine.
would love to find somebody who has some info on this family, Nicolas Jacquinet has a file in the London PRO - it is about 6 inches thick, smells of dusty peppermint and I live too far away to access it.
