Line of Descent of The Real James L. Courtney

It was previously believed that the James Courtney who married Christian Humphrey was William Courtney’s father, when in reality they were brothers. The real James L. Courtney’s line of descent is as follows:
•       James Courtney (ca 1640) married Miss Dyne. James and Miss Dyne are believed to have been the parents of:
•       John James Courtney (ca 1688) married unknown wife and became the parents of :
•       William F. Courtney (ca 1724/ VA?) married Mary Barbee (1727/VA ?), and they became the parents of:
•       James Courtney (1749 VA – 1836 TN) who married Sarah Kesterson (1758/VA – 1842/IN), and they became the parents of:
•       George Washington Courtney (ca 1780/ VA?) who married Elizabeth Ensor (1788 VA,) and they became the parents of:
•       Stephen Courtney (1822/TN), who is believed to have later assumed the alias of Andrew Jackson Haun, married Dinah Andruss (1821/?). They became the parents of:
•       The real James L. Courtney (1846 TN) aka James Haun.

Before stating as definitive fact who Jesse James and the real James L. Courtney married, new DNA testing needs to be done. However, my great-grandfather, whoever he was, married Mary Ellen Barron.

According to old family stories my great-grandfather, known in Texas as James L. Courtney, was really Jesse James. Strong circumstantial evidence indicates this is true. Despite highly touted reports to the contrary, DNA testing has not yet proven if Jesse James died and is buried as history reports.
