Courtney/Courtenay in Devonshire

I have BENHAM ancestors in Devonshire around the Ilfracombe, Arlington, & Berrynabor areas. Surnames of Humphrey, John, James William, George, Sarah, Elizabeth, etc. The BENHAMs must have married into the Courtney/Courtenay family, because after 1777 the common middle name for my BENHAM relatives was Courtney/Courtenay. Is anyone researching this part of England that might have a link to my BENHAM relatives? It is possible that a George BENHAM, born 1744 married a Courtney?
My g-g-g-grandmother was Sarah Courtney BENHAM who had a child with Sir John Palmer Bruce Chichester, Bt. in 1828, and her father was Humphrey Courtney BENHAM, born 1777 in East Down, Devon.
I would be appreciative of any assistance.
