I am wondering if this name changed spelling to Courtney?
I have an ancestor from PA who fought in the 100th Pa regiment in the Civil War. My grandmother told me that the name was originally de la Courtney, and the ancestor was a French nobleman who escaped the guillotine to Virginia, and later the family moved to Pennsylvania...Verne Martin
