Hi Shelly,
I just started trying to track my Indian ancestry. My Grandfather was Moses P. Soutier. I can fill in somemore blanks for you. I thought my Grandfather told me we were Cree. Some relatives said they believe it would be on the Soutier side all though they also say we have Mohawk from Frances Shortsleve. I would like to prove this for 2 reasons, self satisfaction and my daughter will attend college next fall and there are many scholarships for native americans. I have 1 cousin that although she has not proven the Mohawk blood yet, she is accepted by them and attends tribal meetings. I talked to another cousin yesterday that had done a lot of research and he told me that there is something in our past that we DO NOT want to know. He would not tell me what it is. All he would say is to check the Shorsleve's living on the different reservations. In peticular, one near Buffalo, NY. Thats where I am at till I just found you. I would like to talk to you and share info. Also with Jean Pierre. Does anyone have the names of Frances parents?
