FRANCOIS COURTEMANCHE who married MATHILDE DESPLANITES/PLANTE
I am not related, but a French-Canadian researcher interested in all the pioneers to Kankakee and Iroquois Counties in Illinois. I have very little on this family except for data on the children of Francois and Mathilde: Francois born Sep 1856; Mary born 1857-1858 Illinois; Harriet born 1859 Illinois; Eloise/Louise born 1860 Illinois; Adeline/Aldia born 1862 Illinois; Josephine born 7 January 1865 in L'Erable, Illinois; Agnes born 20 Dec 1866 L'Erable, Illinois; Joseph born 14 Aug 1869 L'Erable, Illinois; William born 22 Dec 1873 L'Erable, Illinois; George Napoleon born 10 Dec 1875 L'Erable, Illinois; Nelda "Nellie" born 1878-1879 L'Erable, Illinois and Jasper.
****** Mathilde desPlanites/Plante was born 1835-1836; I have a record for a Mathilde born 13 March 1835 St-Jean, Province Quebec, to Joseph Plante and Marie Madeleine Lemelin, but no real proof this is the same Mathilde.
****** I also have a death record for a Julie Darbique Courtemanche, born 1787, who is buried 29 July 1851 at Bourbonnais, Kankakee County, Illinois. I don't know her husband's name nor if she is the mother of Francois Courtemanche.
******Julie Courtemanche, wife of Elie Dandurand, was born 1829 and is buried 28 July 1851 Bourbonnais, Illinois. Could she be the sister of Francois Courtemanche?

William Shortsleeve, son of Francois and Mathilde Courtemanche, died 18 Jan 1936 Watseka, Illinois; he married Bessie Clausen 25 March 1907 and had Roland, Raymond, Harold, Paul and Pauline.
