The surnames Courtemanche/Shortsleve/Shortsleeve are originally Mohawk Indian in origin. My family connection is: Levi Perry(male) married Frances Shortsleve(female) sometime prior to 1868. They had a daughter: Eliza Perry born circa 1868/1869 in Malone, NY. She married Frederick Soutier(born circa 1864/1865 in Black Brook, NY) on January 5, 1888 in Hinsdale, Berkshire County, MA at St. Patrick's Church. Parents of Frederick Soutier are: Louis Soutier (male) and Zoe Desnoyer(could be Desnoyers, but is spelled Children of Frederick Soutier and Eliza Perry: 1) Allfred(male, known as "Fred", and yes, his name was spelled "Allfred") Soutier 2) Salome(female, known as "Mae") Soutier Shayer - married Louis Shayer 3) Alice Soutier Stevens(female) - born April 24, 1890. Married Louis Stevens. One of their children is my paternal grandfather. 4 or 5) Elmer Soutier(male) - born February ?, 1899 5 or 4) Moses (known as Moe) Soutier 6) Dora Soutier Huddy McElroy (female) Marriage 1: George Huddy Marriage 2: ? McElroy 7) Mary Soutier Disco Houle (female) Marriage 1: Truman Disco Marriage 2: Henry Houle 8) Edith Soutier Shayer (female) Married ? Shayer, brother to her brother-in-law Louis Shayer There was one stillborn child there somewhere that was named and baptized but nobody seems to recall what the child's name was or when it was born. I am seriously lacking any information relating to the Courtemanche/Shortsleve/Shortsleeve side of the family as well as the family members of Frederick Soutier, etc. Any and all help is greatly appreciated!
