David, it has been some time since your post, and I'm not sure if you have found out more since then (or indeed if you are still seeking answers).

The only Joseph I can find that fits is Joseph Court, son of Thomas Court and Joan Davis (married 6 jul 1757). He was baptised in Huish Champflower 5th Aug 1769. Siblings were;
Thomas chr. 24 MAr 1776
Mary chr. 9th Dec 1771 (died 31st Jul 1774)
and William chr. 11th Aug 1758

Huish Champflower is a couple of miles from Wiveliscombe, and as most of the population were farmers they generally lived between the parish curches (i.e equi-distant to either).

I am descended from James Court (born in Huish Champflower) who was the son of John Court and Mary Davis (lots of Courts marryinf Davis' in the area)

PS. I visited the area last weekend and went to the parish churches of;

Huish Champflower, Wiveliscombe, Chipstable, Brompton Ralph, Clatworthy, Langford Budville, Stogumber, Ashbrittle, and Clayhanger. They are all within a 5 mile radius.

Not one Court to be found in the graveyards - ho hum! But it was nice to see where my (our) ancestors were christened, married, and buried. I have photos of the parish churches if you would like them for your records.

PPS. I don't know whether you have more information that I do on the family of Joseph and Maria, but I would not assume that they are twins based on their christening dates (I have other familes where three of more children were christened on the same day, but christened at different ages).

John Court
