Frederick and his sister Louisa Mohl immigrated with their parents in 1832 to New York from Wurttemberg/Germany. When he was grown, Frederick Mohl followed his older half-brother Christian Frederick Duer to Houston, TX. There in 1851 Frederick/Fritz married Aurelia Hadley, b. Jackson, MS. Frederick and Aurelia Mohl didn't have any children. Louisa married Carl Court in NY. He was from Prussia. Their first son Carl/Charles Frederick Court was b. 1852, in CT. Then the family moved to Houston, Harris County, TX, where Carl had a grocery. There Marie Aurelia was b. in 1854. (Her name appeared as Mary Lee in the 1870 census/ Mary R. in the 1880 census.) I think she was named after her maternal grandmother and maternal aunt-in-law. The family moved to KY for a few years, where their daughter Ada was born in 1858. Then they returned to Houston. Last born was Frederick Mohl Court, Feb 1860, at Rose Hill, on an 80-acre farm his parents had moved to, which was 35 miles north of Houston on the stage road. In the 1870 census (4th Ward Houston) Louisa Court was living alone without her husband Carl. He had died in 1861. The 1870 census is confusing, as Carl Court, 18, b. CT, was listed with her. Also with her was a son transcribed as Meredith, but who should have been Frederick. Charles F. Court, 18, b. CT, and two younger Court children, Mary and Frederick, were also listed as living with Aurelia and Frederick Mohl in Ward 2 of Houston. Last, Charles Court, 18, b. CT, was also listed as living with his uncle Christian Frederick Duer, and working as a clerk. Maybe he was spending time at each of their households and they all made sure to claim him. In the 1880 census (Harris Co, TX), Louisa Court was identified as a widow. Only Mary R. and Fred M. were then living with her. She was listed as Louisa Court, widow of Carl, in the 1889-90, 1892-93, and 1894-95 Houston City Directories. I believe Carl and Louisa's FIRST son Carl F. Court, b. CT, also used the anglicized version Charles F. Court. About 1875-76 Carl/Charles married Mathy (Mathilda?) Unknown, b.TX about 1855. (1880 Census) He appeared as Charles Court, b. CT, 1852, with wife Mathy, Houston ED 82, with children Ida, 3, b.1877, and Maut (girl), 1, b. 1879, both born TX. Later I also assigned to Charles and Mathy Court these children: - Herma S. Court, b. abt. 1881 (1920 census, m. to Fred Schultz, had children, and also with her sister Margie Court living with her); - Charles Frederick Court, b. 7 Nov 1882 (WWI Draft Registration, 1917-18); - Frank Mohle Court, b. 22 Oct 1888 (WWI Draft Registration, 1917-18) and identified as Frank M. Court in the 1920 census; and - Margie Court, b. abt. 1895; (living with her sister Herma S. Schultz and family in 1920 census). Margie Court and her sister Herma S. both noted their father was b. in CT and mother in TX. Carl/Charles F. Court became a machinist and was listed in most Houston City Directories from 1882-1895: - As Carl F. Court, 1884-85, 1889-90, and 1894-95. - As Charles F. Court 1886-87, 1887-88, and 1890-91. So it looks as if he lived at least through the 1890's. There was no 1890 census, as it burned at the National Archives. His younger brother Frederick Mohl Court married Annie Bordeaux Breaker, b. Jun 1862, SC. They had the following children: - Alva Breaker, boy b. Mar 1883; - Vara/Vera M., girl b. Dec 1887; - Etta H., girl b. Aug 1892 (I think she was named after her maternal aunt - see below); and - Anita C., b. Jul 1899. In 1900 Annie B. Court's older brother Henry and sister Etta H. Breaker, both single, lived with them. I'll be posting this data on www.rootsweb.com and probably also on www.WeRelate.org, a wiki genealogy site, where people can collaborate.
