Court Family Genealogy Forum

Matt, I am not aware of any other Fred Courts in my line, but we should look carefully into this. When starting out in Genealogy, so I am told, start with what you know. Have you pumped your Dad for information? Be persistent. Write down everything your Dad or any relative tells you about the family, then set out to prove all that you can. Get all the records you can find on your grandfather: Birth certificate, social security records, military records, a copy of his Will, etc. Some of that information should name his parents, place of their birth, etc. When you find his parents, research them the same way. Rootsweb.com is a great place to go for information, as is Familysearch.org. Just remember that until you see a document or it's photocopy, the information is not proved. Don't be satisfied by hearsay, although family stories and traditions are priceless. Savor them, but don't confuse them with facts. Feel free to email me at lunaloba@texas.net if you have more questions or if you find something to share. GOOD LUCK!
