Gideon Mason Coursey was born in 1808 and was married to Lavina Brady. The census records for the Coursey family came from Limestone Co. Texas. Also found him on 1850 census in Limestone Co.5th precinct. My great grandmother wrote a long diary of her life, in it she states 'her grandparents went to Falls county Kentucky in an ox cart in 1838-1842. Amanda lived with them after the death of her mother when she was 2 years old. They lived in a one room log cabin Gideon Coursey built. Gideon owned a black slave he bought when he built his hotel call the halfway house. The slave was a cook and the black woman Mary did the house work. When they were freed after the war they refused to leave. They lived in Falls County on a league and a labor of land.Found Lemuel, Gideon, Andrew, James, David and Marion Coursey on 1870 census Falls Co. Tx.
Found in 1880 census in Falls Tx also.COURSEY, Gideon marr. BRADY, Lavina 10/11/1829
