Hi,
I have worked on the Coursey families of Caroline County, but their origins are problematic. The problem is who was the father of the following William Corsey or Coursey?
WILLIAM Corsey/Coursey of Hillsboro, Caroline County, Maryland, St. Paul's Episcopal Church aka St. John's Parish Church, Choptank Hundred, Hillsboro, MD,Caroline County, southeast of Centreville on Highway 16.]1759-1764.CORSEY, WILLIAM, m. by 12 Nov. 1764 Frances (N).On that day William Coursey and his wife Frances of Queen Anne's Co., but late of Talbot Co., conveyed to Thomas Tennant of Talbot Co., house carpenter,40 acres, part of a tract"Venture." {QALR RTC:97.} On the same day Thomas Tennant of Talbot Co., MD, carpenter, and his wife Mabell, conveyed to William Coursey of Queen Anne's Co.,168 acres, part of"Satterfield's Luck." {QALR RTG:93}. William and Frances were the parents of the following children, whose births were recorded in St. John's Parish, Caroline Co., Maryland [Hillboro, Caroline, County, Maryland] {CAJO}: WILLIAM, b. 17 Aug. 1759; FRANCES, b. 12 Dec. 1761; MARY, b. 1 April 1764j and THOMAS, b. 10 Aug. 1766. From "Colonial Families of the Eastern Shore," v. 1-4, by R.W. Barnes and F.E. Wright, My Family.com. Caroline County not formed until 1773, so St. John's Parish was probably in Queen Anne's County in 1759-1766 when the above Coursey children were born.
