Major William [1] Coursey (brother of Col. Henry Coursey of Lord's Gift plantation then of Talbot County, Maryland) had only one child, Col. William [2] Coursey who married Elizabeth Foster>Lowe in 1693, widow of Col. Vincent Lowe. Col. William [2] Coursey died about 1716. See the Maryland wills of Col. William [2] Coursey 1717 and the will of his wife Elizabeth Foster> Lowe>Coursey who died 1724-25 leaving a Maryland will of 1725. This couple had no children--none, nada. Major William [1] Coursey and his son William [2] Coursey were not surveyors.

There was no James Edward Coursey of the Coursey family of the Eastern Shore of Maryland in colonial times.
