James R. Coursey, b. Jan 16, 1747/48 in Granville County, SC

In his Revolutionary War Pension Records, application #R2308 for James Coursey (which I have a copy of), it states that he was born in Granville County, SC. When he was a child, his father abandoned he and his mother. His mother and father's names are not stated in the application. His mother remarried and they moved to Henry County, VA.

Never the less, this may be a possible link. This is all the information that I have about James R. Coursey in SC. I am a descendant of James R. Coursey and am looking for information on this clan.

There was a clan of surveyers named Coursey in the SC. I can't put my finger on the letter that I've received recently telling about them. I remember that one of the senior fathers was a William Coursey.
